Overview:
There are multiple potential causes for card misplaced errors to happen. This article will aid in the troubleshooting and resolution of card misplaced errors.
Potential Cause(s):
- Misaligned input tray
- Dirty input tray and/or sorting bin
- No cards physically misplaced
- Cards physically misplaced
Misaligned Input Tray:
If the input tray is misaligned, this can cause card misplaced errors. The software adds a "masking" when taking photos. If the tray is too far right or left, the masking will not line up properly.
How to Resolve:
To realign the input tray you will need the following tools from the toolkit sent with your sorter:
- 4mm hex tip
- Orange rachet
Once you have the tools ready,
- Loosen each screw on the front of the input tray guides so the tray can slide side to side
- Once both sides are loose, pick one side to start aligning
- Insert an input tray
- Line up the input tray bin walls with the sorting bin walls (see photo above)
- Once straight, lightly push the input tray guide against the edge of the input tray
- Carefully remove the input tray and tighten the screw just tight enough so it doesn't move when the input tray is reinserted
- Reinsert the tray and check to see if the bin walls are aligned
- If still not aligned, repeat the previous steps
- Once straight, tighten the screw and repeat the previous steps for the other side
- Repeat these steps as needed until the input tray and sorting bin walls are aligned
- Perform a test sort to ensure the issue is resolved
- If the issue persists, contact Customer Support
Dirty input tray and/or sorting bin:
If the top of the bins are dirty, the software can interpret it as a card or an obstruction blocking the bin.
How to Resolve:
- Inspect the top of the sorting bins and input tray for cleanliness
- If they are not clean, use 91% isopropyl alcohol and a lint free cloth or q-tip to clean the top of the sorting bins with
- Perform a test sort to ensure the issue is resolved
- If the issue persists, contact Customer Support
No cards physically misplaced:
If there are no cards physically misplaced, the input tray is aligned properly and the bins are clean, this indicates that there could either be a possible calibration issue or the sorter needs to be power cycled.
How to Resolve:
- Power cycle the sorter by first pressing the front power button and holding it until the interior light turns off
- Then go to the rear of the sorter and switch off the main power button
- Let the sorter rest for 10-15 seconds before switching the main power back on
- Let the sorter rest for an additional 10-15 seconds before holding the front power button until the interior lights come back on
- You will need to close/re-open the GUI
- Perform a test sort to ensure the issue is resolved
- If the issue persists, contact Customer Support
Cards physically misplaced:
Cards can be physically misplaced due to multiple reasons, such as:
- Static causing cards to stick together
- Substance on cards causing them to stick together
- Weak/loss of pneumatics (please refer to Troubleshooting Guide: Piston Jam Errors (Classic Sorter))
- Warped input trays (contact Customer Support)
How to Resolve:
- If a substance is found on a card, remove card from sort
- If no substance was found on a card, try to identify which bin the misplaced card(s) belongs in and place the card(s) in their respective bin
- If you cannot identify which bins the card(s) belong in, remove the cards from the sorter to continue the sort (see note below)
- If the issue persists, contact Customer Support
*** Note ***
When actual card misplaced errors are resolved by removing cards from the sorter, there will be a piston not retracted error for each card that was removed. For more information on Piston Not Retracted errors, please refer to Troubleshooting Guide: Piston Not Retracted Errors (Classic Sorter)
