This article walks you through connecting your Roca Sifter to the internet and registering it to your account.
You can connect your Roca Sifter using either Wi-Fi or a wired Ethernet connection. Ethernet is recommended when available for the most reliable connection.
Before You Begin
Make sure you have:
- Your Roca Sifter
- Power brick and power cord
- Access to a power outlet
- Ethernet cable, if connecting by Ethernet
- Wi-Fi network name and password, if connecting by Wi-Fi
- A phone, tablet, or computer
- Access to your Scan & Identify account
Place the Roca Sifter near an Ethernet jack or in an area with a strong Wi-Fi signal before starting setup.
Step 1: Unbox the Roca Sifter
Remove the Roca Sifter from the box by gripping the protective bag and lifting the device out.
Place the Sifter on a stable, flat surface with enough room to open the lid and access the back of the device.
Step 2: Remove the Included Components
Open the lid by pressing the button on the right side of the Roca Sifter.
Remove the following items from inside the device:
- Power brick
- Power cord
- Card weight
- Card hopper
Set these aside while you complete setup.
Step 3: Connect Power
- Connect the power cord to the power brick.
- Plug the barrel jack into the back of the Roca Sifter.
- Plug the power cord into a wall outlet.
The light on the front of the Roca Sifter should begin flashing blue and then turn solid blue.
If the light does not turn on automatically, press the power button on the top of the Roca Sifter.
Option A: Connect by Ethernet
Use this option if you have access to a wired network connection.
- Plug an Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the back of the Roca Sifter.
- Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to your router, switch, or wall Ethernet jack.
- Wait for the Roca Sifter to connect to the internet.
When the device is successfully connected, the front light will turn green and the Sifter will play a chime.
Once the device is online, continue to the Register Your Roca Sifter section below.
Option B: Connect by Wi-Fi
Use this option if you are connecting the Roca Sifter to a wireless network.
| Note: For best results when using a smartphone or other cellular device for WiFi setup, place the device in airplane mode in the settings section of the device. |
Put the Sifter into setup mode
Press the setup button on the back of the Roca Sifter. The front light will begin flashing green.
Connect to the temporary Sifter Wi-Fi network
On your phone, tablet, or computer, open Wi-Fi settings and connect to the Roca Sifter setup network.
The network name will appear as:
Sifter-XXXXXXXXXXXXX
When prompted, enter the default Wi-Fi password printed on the sticker inside the Roca Sifter.
Open the setup website
Scan the QR code from the quick start guide or visit:
rocasetup.com
If you don’t see the setup page when accessing this URL, try typing the following into your browser:
Enter the default password again on the setup website when prompted.
Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the Roca Sifter to your home or business Wi-Fi network.
Confirm the Sifter is connected
After setup is complete, wait for the front light to turn green and listen for the chime. This confirms the Roca Sifter is connected to the internet.
| Note: It can take up to 60 seconds after entering the network password before you hear the chime, please be patient. |
After the Sifter connects, reconnect your phone, tablet, or computer to your regular home or business Wi-Fi network.
Register Your Roca Sifter
After your Roca Sifter is connected to the internet, register the device to your account.
- Access the TCGplayer Seller Portal using this URL: https://sellerportal.tcgplayer.com/scan-identify/register-device
- Sign in with your TCGplayer seller account if prompted.
- Follow the prompts to add a new Roca Sifter.
- Enter or confirm the device serial number and password when prompted.
- Complete registration.
Once registration is complete, your Roca Sifter will be associated with your account and ready to use in Scan & Identify.
How to Know Setup Was Successful
Your Roca Sifter is connected successfully when:
- The front light turns solid green
- The device plays a confirmation chime
- The device appears in Scan & Identify after registration
- You can begin creating or managing sifts from your account
Troubleshooting
The Sifter does not power on
Confirm that:
- The power cord is securely connected to the power brick
- The barrel jack is fully inserted into the Sifter
- The power cord is plugged into a working outlet
- The power button on top of the Sifter has been pressed
I do not see the Sifter Wi-Fi network
Confirm that:
- The Sifter is powered on
- The setup button on the back of the device has been pressed
- The front light is flashing green
- Your phone, tablet, or computer has Wi-Fi enabled
The setup network should appear as:
Sifter-XXXXXXXXXXXXX
The Wi-Fi password is not working
Use the default Wi-Fi password printed on the sticker inside the Roca Sifter.
Make sure you enter the password exactly as shown with match uppercase and lowercase letters as printed.
The Sifter will not connect to Wi-Fi
Try the following:
- Move the Sifter closer to your router or access point
- Confirm you are using the correct Wi-Fi network password with correct uppercase and lowercase letters
- Make sure your Wi-Fi network is available and working
- Restart the setup process
- Use Ethernet if available
The front light does not turn green
The Sifter has not completed its internet connection.
Check your Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection and repeat the setup process if needed.
I connected the Sifter, but I cannot continue setup
After connecting the Sifter to Wi-Fi, your phone, tablet, or computer may still be connected to the temporary Sifter setup network.
Reconnect your phone, tablet, or computer to your normal home or business Wi-Fi network, then continue the registration process.
I need to configure advanced network options
If you need to configure advanced network settings such as static IP addresses or proxy settings, you can access advanced settings options by connecting to the setup network and accessing the configuration page at: http://172.16.131.2
